Magical Sounds presents a Bearded Theory Festival benefit gig with the wonderful Banco De Gaia LIVE!!!! As some of you will know, the Bearded Theory festival was a sell-out this year and we were set to make a nice chunk of funds for Shelter and local Derbyshire homeless hospices....untill the weather threw the dice and set a Tornado on a collision course with the main stage... Several benefit gigs going on across the country to clear the debt this landed us with.. Many thanks to Toby and the crew for agreeing to do this for us!!! This is a small venue so will sell out!! If you want a ticket they are £12 (£8 Trades club members) so drop me an email and I will secure for you..
Me Me Meeeee! & her :o)
Tickets available to buy online (£1.20 booking fee) or you can avoid fee by contacting venue direct and send cheque. Five Days to go !
Happy to report this gig is now Sold Out!!
Can't wait! Definitely worth seeing our friends Seize The Day who are playing there on Saturday night too :)
I know! My original plan was to go to Brid for a Saturday of Musicport but we have been trying to tempt Seize the Day up to the Trades for aaaages so we are staying put (as luck would have it we get to see Banco De Gaia the following weekend in London anyway).. If anyone is thinking of staying around for Seize the Day (a band you just can't acronym) then tickets are selling well and its Callis Garden Apple Day on the Saturday as well which is fantastic!!!
... not to mention Otway & Barrett at the Trades on Thursday and also the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway Beer Fest just up the road too! Should be a fun (long) weekend! :o)

Bit late in posting but... Ticket in the bag!!! Finally a Banco gig up north where its guaranteed not to rain!!!! Still gutted about missing the Banco set at Eden........ and ashamed from when Toby caught me leaving the campsite early with my bags packed!!! Eek!!! :( Sorry again for that Toby, but I'll be definately staying around to the end of this shindig!!!! Will buy you a drink to say 'sorry' if you are knocking around the venue! :)
What a great night! :) More please! :)
Marvellous, Thank you Toby, Thank you Flip ! It was a great night
Wow! What a night!! Thanks to everyone who came, all the Trades club staff commented what a lovely crowd you were!! Massive thanks to Toby, Sandy and the crew, I can honestly say I have never seen the Trades club bouncing like that, right to the back everyone was loving it!! Desired effects achieved, 1) raised money for the Bearded Theory tornado fund, this is pritty much cleared now! 2) The Trades Club want me back as a promoter so its onwards and upwards!! 3) Banco De Gaia are welcome back to the Trades anytime!! Sell out gig guaranteed!!
Thanks everyone, we had a fantastic time too. :-) Sorry I didn't get a chance to chat more Chirs, glad you managed to stay this time though! ;-)
We did indeed have a great time and so glad it all worked out so well for you Flip :)
Had a magical Night what a Dub Dj . Had to go early because of the train back to manchester. Didnt get enough of Banco de Gaia Need More. Please come back really soon. Trades club and locals were excellent hosts. Would like to get in contact with a bloke called Chris who helped us out and offered us a lift. Please get in touch Chris we were at the back left table facing the stage 3 lads from manchester. Need to talk business.
What a night, really enjoyed Banco even though we had to leave early. I think Hebden & the trades club is a quality place / venue, with honest friendly people i especially liked the purple colours and can't wait to return. Wahey!!!!!!!!!!
Based on comments above I think I will start the main act at 10 next time and not 10.30, I'll keep an active eye on last traintimes too.. :-) Sugar lump, the dub dj is Steve from Magic Lantern and the visuals through his set were done by the other half of Magic Lantern, the lovely Jess.. Very talented people!! http://www.freewebs.com/magiclantern/ Steve is normally a full-on psy dj but is very versatile and plays most genres...
..one thought, did anyone take any photos of the night? I totally forgot in the excitement.. if so, I would love to see them, please email me, I will reciprocate with a beer or two.. Next magical sounds nights sorted - 15th Jan Dreadzone Soundsystem and 26th Feb the wonderful Sunfish. Both with full dj / vj sets before and aft...
