I’m very happy to announce the commencement of pre-orders for my brand new studio album, ‘The 9th of Nine Hearts’.

A celebration of the heart, the music within has been inspired by love and the people, places and experiences I have loved over the years. The album features collaborations with Zero 7’s Sophie Barker, Pink Floyd’s Dick Parry, The The’s James Eller and No-Man’s Tim Bowness, as well as long-time collaborator Ted Duggan.

Moving on from my previous albums, I’ve thrown the net much wider and allowed my influences from prog, avante garde and classical to come through a lot more. The result is, I hope, an album which is still very much ‘Banco’ but with greater depth and subtlety than ever. Don’t worry, the beats, bleeps and chants are still there but, like the concept behind the album, it contains a whole lot more. It’s probably my most overtly ‘emotional’ album so far, although it’s certainly not a series of sickly love songs. In fact, the ideas behind it may not even be obvious in the music, which is fine: musing on love and what is important in life was a great place to find inspiration and starting points.

The album is available as a download (including a 24bit option for audiophiles) and on CD, plus vinyl lovers will be happy to know that I’ve pressed a limited run of double 180g 12”s. As with previous pre-orders, I’m happy to sign or dedicate if you like – just put a note with the order.

For the CD and vinyl, please go to the Banco store. For downloads, please head over to Bandcamp.
