Today sees the release of “Altered Realities“, which collates most of my remixes since 1990 into one authoritative collection. The very first was a baggy version of Beautiful Happiness’s “Something Sonic”, while the last made was my take on Youth & Gaudi’s “Empress of the Tarot”.

Putting this together was never my intention for this year, not least as I’m supposed to be working on new music (and I am!) However, someone on Twitter pointed out that 2023 marked 30 years since my first remix, and that milestone seemed worth commemorating. Only later did I remember that I actually made my first remix in 1990, not 1993, and so had missed the anniversary entirely, but by then the project was well under way.

I couldn’t include all of my remixes due to licensing issues, but The Orchard will be releasing the five they control sometime in August, and you can find my remixes of Natacha Atlas, The Levellers, The Mallet Men and Their Orchestra online already. If I ever manage to make successful contact with Enzo Avitabile and/or the estate of Paul Horn then I’ll see what can be done to update this collection.

In other news, I’ve just returned from playing the Ambyss zone at Ozora Festival, and tomorrow will be playing a last minute booking at Nottingham’s Riverside Festival, which is free entry. Further ahead, I’ll be playing at Band on the Wall in Manchester on September 28th (tickets) and The Castle and Falcon in Birmingham on October 10th (tickets)
